The 2nd international conference on "Human-Computer Interaction, High Education, Augmented Reality and Technologies" (HCIHEART 2018) carries implicitly an innovating and revolutionary vision in the domain of the college education of the present and the future, excluding all those groups or castes that prevent the harmonious evolution of scientific knowledge, the use of the new technologies and the growth of the common wealth in the local and global village.

This is an annual event that is aimed at four domains that interrelate with each other in a bidirectional way such as human-computer interaction, high education, augmented reality and technologies. In this scientific space are admitted all the new original proposals that are in a stage of elaboration or with already reached final results. Briefly, it is a kind of heart of different converging disciplines, tending to set up bridges between users and professionals of the new technologies. Allowing besides to all of them a greater ability to look towards the future in the short, middle and long term, with a much sharper accuracy and sharpness in their daily activities.

We do not tend to the large numbers of participants but rather to the qualitative factor of human communication, where the students, professors, researchers, businessmen, among others, have the chance of interacting positively to offer new horizons to the research and development works, for instance. In other words, the qualitative element of the group prevails over the quantitative aspect, as it happens in many other conferences, where the students –for example, are not considered, and many of their works in the continuous research stage are only sidelined to the poster sections. Besides, we are working with zero “G factor” (G = Garduña).

In short, it is a new field of debate for the streamlining of the sciences and education focusing on the human-computer interaction, augmented reality and new technologies that boost the learning process, the communicability between interactive media, professors and students, the supervision of the evolution of the research projects, the technology transfer between the university and the industry/business, and vice versa, and a long etcetera. Leaving open the possibility of including other potential contexts and new information and communication technologies where the human being is the center of the educational process.

Many conferences are focussed on specific aspects of computer science, programming, education., final users, human factors, advanced visual interface, ergonomics, etc., and bring together leading experts in a particular field or sometimes on a specific technology. The conferences, workshops, symposiums, etc., are not a big scale and aim to promote dialogue between established professors, research experts, pedagogues, etc., and students, programmers, mobile designers, etc. working on new directions. Hence topics from the whole range of human-computer interaction, dynamics and static media, 3D computer graphics, apps programming, software quality, communicability, interactive systems design and evaluation, e-learning authoring tools, online learning in higher education, educational video games, virtual agents, mixed reality, display technologies, global positioning system, information architecture, big data analysis,, etc. are welcomed.

Last year’s symposiums, workshops, conferences, etc., organized by AInCI and ALAIPO, for instance, included papers, demos, research-in-progress, doctoral consortium, posters, etc., on the topics (see below the alphabetical order). An extensive listing connotes and reflects the requirement and also skill necessary to find intersection zones of the disciplines among the different domains, fields, and specialities; which at the same time potentially boosts and merges the formerly different scientific views.

In short, we focus on the following main and secondary subjects, which do not exclude others of great current or future interest, alphabetically listed in the following way:

Human-Computer Interaction

:: Collaborative Systems
:: Computational Thinking
:: Gestural Interaction
:: Human-Computer Communicability
:: Information Visualization
:: Intelligent Interfaces
:: Interface Design and Assessment of Interactive Systems
:: Multimedia, Hypermedia and Web 2.0
:: Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing
:: User Experience

High Education

:: Computer Science and Engineering
:: Culture Systems
:: Digital Libraries
:: e-Learning
:: m-Learning
:: Pedagogy
:: Social Sciences
:: Video Games and Education
:: Virtual Agents and Virtual Education
:: Virtual Classroom and Virtual University

Augmented Reality

:: Architecture of AR Systems
:: Computer Graphics and Computer Vision
:: Digital Literacy
:: Global Positioning System
:: Haptic Rendering
:: Interaction and Output Modalities
:: Multimedia Design and Spatial Experience
:: Multimodal Displays
:: Software Tools
:: Static and Dynamics Media

Technologies

:: AR Hardware
:: Design Technology
:: Educational Technology
:: Interactive Tabletops and Surfaces
:: Mobile Devices and Sensors
:: Networking and Security
:: New Display Technologies
:: Research and Emerging Technologies
:: Tracking Technology
:: User Interface Technology

All contributions –papers, workshops, demos, posters, research-in-progress and doctoral consortium, should be of high quality, originality, clarity, significance and impact. Besides, all submitted papers will be reviewed by a double-blind (at least three reviewers), non-blind, and participative peer review. These three kinds of review will support the selection process of those that will be accepted for their presentation at the international conference.  Authors of accepted contributions who registered in the conference can have access to the evaluations and possible feedback provided by the reviewers who recommended the acceptance of their works, so they can accordingly improve the final version of their papers, demos, research-in-progress, etc.

Best regards,

Francisco V. Cipolla Ficarra (Chair - coordinator)
&
Doris Edison and Pamela Fulton (International Secretariat)

2. The events have the following deadlines

Works Submissions: Open. Consequently, as they are received, they will be evaluated. It is a way to speed up the process to make up the final program of the international conference, visa requirements, should plan travel well in advance, etc. In other words, it is not necessary to wait until the deadline to send them for the evaluation process.
Deadline: May, 31th – 23:59 local time in Hawaiian Islands.
Authors Notification:
Two/three weeks after the submission/s.
Camera-ready, full papers: June, 22th.
